Sally Rippin is a best-selling and beloved author for children, and the eighth Australian Children’s Laureate. Her most popular series include Billie B Brown, Hey Jack! and School of Monsters, and she has over 10 million books in print worldwide. She has also written one book for adults: Wild Things: How We Learn to Read and What Can Happen If We Don’t.
As the Australian Children’s Laureate, Sally is the national ambassador for reading and Australian children’s literature. Every Laureate has a mission for their two-year term. For Sally, it is: All kids can be readers. Through this mission, she works towards creating public awareness around learning difficulties as well as the most effective practice in teaching children to read. Sally’s work spotlights the reading challenges faced by millions of Australian children – including but not limited to discussions around neurodiversity, disability, mental health, access to books and language barriers.
Sally is the Australian Children’s Laureate 2024–2025.

Eliza Hull is an award-winning musician, writer, and disability advocate. She is the creator of the ABC podcast series We’ve Got This about parenting with a disability. She also edited and created the book with the same title We’ve Got This: Essays by disabled parents which features parents who identify as disabled, Deaf or Chronically Ill.
She is a contributor in the Growing up Disabled in Australia and Teacher Teacher anthologies, and her award-winning children’s book Come Over To My House, and its companion, The World We Can Build (co-authored by Sally Rippin and illustrated by Daniel Gray-Barnett), authentically represent various families with disability. A writer for the ABC, Eliza is also a regular television and radio guest, using her lived experience of disability to reduce stigma.

Daniel Gray-Barnett is an award-winning illustrator and author from the Huon Valley in lutruwita/Tasmania. He likes to think of himself as someone who was put on this planet to tell a few stories before he turns into a grumpy old man.
His clients include Disney, Kiehl’s, Sydney Opera House and The New York Times. When he’s not in the studio, he can be found daydreaming in the garden with his husband, German pointers and chickens.
