Thank you to everyone who entered our National Reconciliation Week colouring competition – there were over 850 entries, so it was fiercely competitive! The Reading Australia team had a hard time choosing the final winners, but we are delighted to share the winning entries with you below.

Dub Leffler is the wonderful illustrator behind this year’s colouring page, which he made exclusively for Reading Australia. We chose his picture book, Once There Was a Boy, for this year’s competition because of the sweetness of the friendship depicted and the reminder that the act of sharing can heal broken hearts.

Did you miss out on the competition? You and your students can still enjoy the colouring sheet, available here.

And the winners are…

Winner one

WINNER: Emilie, Year 1, Red Hill Primary School

Winner two

WINNER: Laura, Year 6, St John Vianney’s Primary Mulgrave

We also want to celebrate our shortlist – you can see why our final decisions were so difficult! Congratulations to the winners and shortlisted entries.
