The results of our playwriting competition with the Australian Children’s Laureate Foundation (ACLF) are in! Thank you to everyone who entered – we loved seeing how each of you expanded on the story of Pierre’s Not There!

All our entries came from Stage 3 students, so after careful deliberation with Ursula Dubosarsky herself, we came up with one winning and two highly commended entrants.

It gives us great pleasure to announce our overall winner: Eric from Dural Public School, NSW! Eric has won a signed copy of Pierre’s Not There and a $75.00 Booktopia voucher (for both him and his school library), plus a virtual classroom visit from Ursula.

“Eric’s winning scene leapt from the page onto the stage with the lively panache of a born dramatist,” said Ursula. “Congratulations!”

We would also like to commend two other entries belonging to Inuki (Haileybury Edrington, VIC) and Selena (North Rocks Public School, NSW), which were accompanied by wonderful drawings and puppets. Both students will receive a signed copy of Pierre’s Not There for their efforts.

You can see all three students’ work below. Thank you to the teachers who encouraged their students to enter the competition, and a huge thank you to Ursula Dubosarsky and the ACLF for partnering with us in this endeavour.
