Now that the school year is drawing to a close, we are able to recap the units we published this year, as well as start planning for 2020. The summer holidays are a great time to get stuck into reading books and resources, so for your convenience we have compiled all the units we published this year below. In the last 12 months, Reading Australia published 21 full units of work, ten for primary and 11 for secondary.

Of these, four titles are by First Nations creators, including Shake A Leg written by Boori Monty Pryor and Heat and Light written by Ellen Van Neerven, as well as Jandamarra and the Bunuba Resistance and Ubby’s Underdogs: Heroes Beginnings, two resources that came about from our partnership with Magabala Books.

After receiving feedback on the need for greater resources on books for Year 7 and 8, we published units on two graphic novels, one poetry anthology and a classic short novel: Heroes Beginnings, The ABC Book of Australian Poetry, Midnite and The Deep: Here Be Dragons.

Books on various state English/Literature text lists also had units of work published this year, including The Man Who Loved Children, Vertigo, and Past The Shallows.

Earlier this year we announced the resources that would be published in 2020. Reach out to the Reading Australia team with any feedback on the already published or commissioned resources, and with your text suggestions – we want to hear about the Australian books you’re already teaching or that you would love to be teaching to your students.
